Almost every artist on this compilation comes from a drastically different level in their respective musical careers. Punchline and I Can Make A Mess have just about done it all, while reaching a level of fame and success that has carried on over the years. The Lion faced Boy and My Arcadia are just beginning to catch on and garner some tangible level of fandom. Allister and August Premier are making a comeback, and Straight Outta Junior High and Jonah Matranga are continuing to produce quality music after all these years.
The same differences that are apparent with the broad assortment of artists also exists with the wide variety of genres that are included. There's When We Team Up's post-hardcore take on 'Warbrain', Rattlesnake Gunfight's alternative country breakdown of 'Another Innocent Girl' and Koji's brilliant acoustic take on 'She Took Him To The Lake', and those are just three of the numerous styles that appear on the album.
And while there are so many differences within this compilation. There's one constant, and that's the respect that's being paid to Alkaline Trio that's clearly evident in the wide array of quality individuals and fantastic talent that participated on this project. And with 39 tracks and more than a dozen artists that I had to politely turn down, I can tell you with 100% certainty that the Trio has inspired a countless number of artists and will continue to instill musical passion in future generations.
To end this long winded rant I want to say that ultimately this tribute was made with the idea that maybe one of these 39 songs would turn at least one person, who may not have heard of Alkaline Trio, or maybe hadn't given them a chance, into a true fan of their work. Or with a little luck, maybe a fan of Alkaline Trio will find their next favorite artist hidden among the 39 various acts that contributed their hard work and talents to this project.
